London, 30th October 2025 – As a leading multinational retailer, Tesco first introduced third party gift cards in partnership with Blackhawk Network (BHN), to its customers in 2010. From just 5 brands, it has grown into one of the UK’s most expansive gift card ranges.

Tesco now proudly offers over 80 brands in-store and more than 60 online through its digital platform, TescoGiftCards.com, totalling 81 million cards sold to date.
Tesco’s gift card selection includes a wide variety of top-tier brands across entertainment, retail, hospitality, and tech. Shoppers can find customer favourites such as One4all, Apple, Roblox, John Lewis, and Mitchells & Butlers, and new brands being added frequently.

Recent research from BHN reveals that grocery stores continue to dominate as the number one destination for gift card purchases, followed by beauty and department stores. This reinforces a key insight: consumers are prioritising convenience and turning to trusted, familiar locations they already frequent weekly.
Iain Donachie, Head of Gift Cards UK & Ireland at Tesco Insurance and Money Services said:

“We’re incredibly proud to be the UK’s number one third-party gift card supplier, a milestone built on 15 years of partnership, innovation, and trust. What began as a small range of brands has grown into one of the most comprehensive selections in the country, making it easier than ever for customers to find the perfect gift.

“Together with BHN and our Card Partners, we’ve created a range that reflects how our customers really like to shop, with choice, convenience, and trusted brands.”

Anna Uprichard, VP of Commerce at BHN says, “BHN is incredibly proud and honoured to have supported Tesco over the past 15 years in the development and growth of their third-party gift card programme – both in-store and online. It has been a true partnership from day one, and we’re delighted to have played a role in the evolution and success of such a well-loved and widely used offering. Watching the programme grow from just a handful of brands to today’s expansive portfolio is a testament to the vision, collaboration, and commitment of the Tesco and BHN teams.”

Hannah Shimko, Managing Director of the Gift Card & Voucher Association (GCVA), added: “Gift cards have become one of the most popular ways to give, with more people than ever picking them up during their regular shop. Retail channels continue to dominate the UK gift card market, accounting for the overwhelming majority of sales and helping drive growth. In fact, retail-linked gift card sales grew by 12.7% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, boosted by strong performances in occasion-related purchasing. It’s clear that gift cards are now a go-to choice for consumers, combining convenience with the joy of giving.”

The popularity of gift cards continues to grow, with a record-breaking 9.9 gift cards sold every second on Christmas Eve 2024 – a clear sign that Tesco remain a go-to gifting solution for millions across the UK. In 2019, Tesco became the first UK grocer to launch the One4all Gift Card, offering customers greater flexibility and choice in how and where they spend.

As Tesco continues to innovate and expand its offering, it remains committed to delivering the best in choice, convenience, and customer experience.
