allpay Limited is proud to announce its attainment of the Mastercard Sustainability Badge, positioning the company at the forefront of environmentally conscious practices.

With over 3 billion plastic payment cards being shipped worldwide annually, cards are quickly replacing cash on a global scale as a more convenient, secure, and sustainable way of paying.

Industry and regulatory bodies are setting objectives and plans which aim to reduce the use of plastic, increase its re-use, or improve its recyclability at the end of life. Considering this, the payment cards’ industry has had to take decisive steps to introduce a new generation of more environmentally friendly solutions for card bodies.

Mastercard's Sustainability Badge reflects a commitment to the use of sustainable materials in card manufacturing. achieving this provides a significant milestone for allpay and is a testament to the company's dedication to eco-friendly practices.

Improving sustainability metrics for each card distributed

Over the past 12 month’s allpay has demonstrated significant advancements compared to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) Baseline. Committed to reducing the environmental impact of each card that leaves its production facility based in the UK, the results have been extremely positive.

- Total Energy Consumption: Reduced by 48%.
- Production Waste: Achieved a 100% improvement by eliminating waste into landfill or incineration.
- Non-recycled Material Consumption: Achieved a 73%.
- Non-renewable Energy Consumption: Decreased by 50%.

By aligning with Mastercard's vision for a more environmentally responsible future. The UK based card production facility has had to consider card composition, card sourcing, designing for sustainability, best practice on sustainable marketing as well as the materials being used.

In a statement, Jamie Taylor, Head of Site Operations at allpay Limited, expressed gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the collective effort of the entire team in achieving this milestone. "This Mastercard Sustainability Badge is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices. We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment, and this achievement is a reflection of our continuous efforts to push the boundaries of what is possible in sustainable card manufacturing."
